We’ve decided that since we are getting lots of folks doing cool things on Wednesday nights, it will become the official Unlab open night. Every Wednesday (except the 1st of the month when we all go to Geek Dinner) the doors to the Convergence Centre and the Unlab will be open from 7pm-9:30pm for interested people to drop by and see what we are all about. I’ve also updated the Calendar so you can find these and other UnLondon events. Where is the Unlab? 999…
Got this email from our sister hacker space in Kitchener. Hi all, Are you the kind of person who thinks that others’ trash is your treasure? Then come out to KwartzLab Junkyard on September 10th to go through a bunch of Maker Junk! That’s right, the members of KwartzLab, being makers, also tend to be hoarders. So we’re giving away a bunch of our stuff (you know, project bits that will never be used and the like). Come out from 1 PM to 7…
SoOnCon is the Southern Ontario Hackerspaces & Makers Mini-Conference and the 2011 edition is coming up on Sept 30- October 1st, in Toronto. As part of the event the organizers have issued a call for proposals. Have something neat you want to show off, a new hack? This would be an excellent time to present it to a group of your peers.
I realize this is a long over due post – for a couple of reasons – but its better late then never! UnLondon (and the UnLab) have been without a logo for way to long. Its time to rectify that! So this Saturday August 6th from 10 am to 2 pm we are hosting the UnLondon Creative Hack! Everyone (from designers to brainstormers) is invited to come out for a couple of hours and work together as we attempt to collectively design a logo, a…
From Gavin Blair Kick off meeting Wednesday July 13th at the UnLab 7pm. Let’s build a Foosball table at the UnLab. The project will encompass elements of make, tech and art, so we’ll need a lot of people. Materials and Specs are in this document: http://t.co/hBrqG7G The plan is to build a Foosball table from scratch, with potential upgrades such as automated scoring and field-level cameras.
On July 27th from 7-10pm a group from kwartzlab a hackerspace in Kitchener/Waterloo will be visiting the UnLab. If you haven’t had a change to check out some of their projects and website its worth doing. It should be a great night to collaborate with a like minded folks from a neighboring hackerspace. Anyone else is also welcome to come out and tour the UnLab to see what the space is about. UnLab members, feel free to bring in some of those projects and hacks…
The Convergence Centre will be closed for a private function taking place during business hours tomorrow (Friday, June 24) on the first floor, including the main lobby. Parking will also be restricted. If you need to access or exit the UnLab during those hours, you can use the basement entrance on the south side of the building, but you may be best off to work around these hours. Bonus: there will be a free BBQ, sponsored by LANXESS at the Stiller Centre that day and…
Are you typically bored on Friday nights? Coming to PodCamp London on Saturday and want to know to expect? Looking to make some new friends but are tired of getting hit on by middle aged men, wearing sequin shorts, at Jim Bob Ray’s (does this guy still exist?). If any of these sentences describe you then we have something you’re going to like. Open House This Friday, June 10th, 2011 at 7pm-11pm join other PodCampers, social media types and geeks of all ages at the…
There will be no open house this Wednesday November 30th as most Unlab regulars (including myself) will be attending Ignite London IV. If you have never been it’s a great event and you should attend. This Saturday Friday, Kevin and I will be doing some work on the Podcast studio so it will not be available from about 10am – 6pm. Tasks to be done include. – pads on the wall – cut a hole in the table for the mics (if that is…
